WestJet took to the skies in 1996 with just over 200 employees and three aircraft operating service to five destinations. The WestJet Group's fleet, with an average age under 10 years, is among the youngest of established North American carriers. The fleet consists of nearly 200 aircraft, with 138 Boeing 737s.
